Artistic Statement

Our work as a collective explores the combination of different mediums and disciplines, seeking to evoke in their conjunction: surprising, amusing, mysterious and nostalgic stimulus.

We examine the place of the individual as part of an increasingly pluralistic environment. Probing this phenomenon via different points of view and diverse cultural backgrounds. In short, we stand for building a unity through diversity; questioning the affects of the gradual systemization and automatisation of our society.

As a work method, the collective fragments and reconstructs memories, old furniture and other pieces of memorabilia. In this process, bringing to life ‘things’ by altering their original formation and attaching to them analog mechanisms. Through this process,
re-contextualizing them along-with utilizing their original symbolic/poetic content.

The study of static in relation to movement is further examined through exploring synthesis of artificial and natural materials. Merging materials that can change form and consistency such as: light/shadow, smoke, sound, among other flexible elements that stand in the in-between zones of liquid/solid/gas.

How do objects carry memory across space and time? How do they mediate loss and forgetfulness, exile and diaspora? What is the glue that can connect the physical worlds of objects with social-networks?

Banuel places accessibility to their projects as a primary objective, as in taking into account all age groups and social circles that make the community of their audience. This coincides with their emphasis on integrating the spectator into the body of work as an active viewer, correlating with the surrounding.
